Arianna has read the tea leaves. Progressivism, which was riding the crest of popularity on the election of Obama, is over. It is no longer good for business. And just as the stock market is said to be a leading indicator on business cycles, I submit Arianna’s track record has shown her to be a leading indicator on the zeitgeist. She knows when to get out. Obama, and by extension progressivism, is fini. It is best left to fringey looneys like Code Pink. Put simply: Progressivism is no longer good business.

Now this does not mean Arianna won’t tilt left publicly, at least somewhat. That’s what’s done in “polite society.” But in the real world of business, it’s over. Out with the healthcare crisis, in with divorce and Lindsay Lohan. Forget the puffery about “Citizen Journalism” coming to AOL. This is for show, to continue getting free content while suckering some of the old, disgruntled audience from the original HuffPo. This combination very well could succeed.

How whack was this guy? He built a satanic altar in his back yard. A classmate of Loughner describes him as a “Left-wing pothead” and it’s been reported he’s been obsessed with Rep. Giffords since 2007. There are no diaries, no blog posts, no youtube rants where Loughner lists Palin or the tea party as the influence for his actions.  His claims his favorite reading material includes the writings of Adolf Hitler and Karl Marx, and other people were frightened of him.  He’s insane in a Hinckley kind of way.

Jared Loughner, the suspect accused of killing six people and wounding 13 others Saturday, including Arizona Rep. Gabrielle Giffords, was described by friends and neighbors as a disturbed, pot-smoking loner who lived with his parents. Additionally, sources tell CBS News that Loughner had made threats in the past and even interacted with Giffords in 2007. CBS News Justice and Homeland Security correspondent Bob Orr said on “Face the Nation” Sunday, “We do know from our sources and from our national security analyst Juan Zarate that Loughner had an interaction once before with Congresswoman Giffords back in 2007, where he apparently posed a question to her, kind of a benign question. “She answered the question; he didn’t find it acceptable, he didn’t like the answer,” Orr said.

“In the time since then, investigators believe perhaps he was tracking her and targeting her in a very loose way,” Orr told CBS chief Washington correspondent Bob Schieffer.

Well, it’s pretty much already that way now. Not that we want democrats – the good ones – to go away. Not at all. The two-party system is a good thing. We just want them to throw the Marxists, Communists, and Progressives out of their party’s leadership and be democrats again.

The video of perky Katie mocking Palin and her kids hit the web today. It proves what we already knew:  Couric had an elitist’s distain for Palin and wanted to make the guv look bad so that the messiah would be elected in November …

No mention of Governor Palin’s achievements or her 85 percent approval rating in Alaska. Just a hard-core leftist mocking anyone who does not believe in the socialism progressive pro-abortion ideology.

They covered no story that was critical of Obama, and refused to vet him as a presidential candidate.  They felt it was their job, not to investigate a man with a mysterious past, who had no accomplishments save writing two books about himself, who came from nowhere to get elected to the Illinois seat, and was about to be thrust into the Oval Office.

Now we know the truth.

In a scandal that should shake out any faith you have left in journalist, today’s journolist revelations will show beyond a shadow of doubt that hundreds of so-called mainstream journalists from leading newspapers, magazines, and broadcast news organizations are leftwing political operatives.

Sean Hannity was correct when he said journalism died in 2008.
