John McCain Forms PAC for Shits and Giggles
Now that the “maverick” has been outed as a closest liberal Democrat, Senator John McCain has formed a political action committee and emailed all of us who supported Sarah Palin the McCain-Palin campaign to send him some more money or something.
I deleted his e-mail without reading it. It started out in the tag line, “My friends,…” and that’s when I knew I was gonna get pissed off at this “maverick” again. It wasn’t until McMavrick threw Sarah under the bus said nothing when his staffers leaked smears of Sarah after the election was lost that I came to realize “maverick” actually stands for “will stand with democrats against republicans.” Yup, that’s what maverick means all right.
So I gather from other bloggers and comments that the e-mail I deleted was asking for “generous donations” so that he could start something called the Country First PAC.
Bullpuckey. If you believed in “country first”, John, you wouldn’t have stabbed us all in the back with your across-the-aisle votes on immigration reform, the $700 billion bailout, and refusal to talk about some of the concerns about Obama.
After McCain ran such a FUBAR campaign, I can’t imagine any repub giving this guy the time of day much less a donation.
Weathermen Terrorist Support Obama
The names of four former top leaders of the Weathermen terrorist organization are listed as signatories on an online petition calling for an “independent grassroots effort” to help strengthen Sen. Barack Obama’s campaign.
The petition was initiated by Progressives for Obama, an independent organization acting to ensure the Illinois senator’s election. World net daily has the details of the group striving for the collapse of the US and world communism to take hold.
If You Like Michigan’s Economy, You’ll Love Obamanomics
On the difference between the tax plans of Obama and McCain from Wall Street Journal:
Mr. McCain will lower taxes. Mr. Obama will raise them, especially on small businesses. To understand why, you need to know something about the “infamous” top 1% of income tax filers: In order to avoid high corporate tax rates and the double taxation of dividends, small business owners have increasingly filed as individuals rather than corporations. When Democrats talk about soaking the rich, it isn’t the Rockefellers they’re talking about; it’s the companies where most Americans work. Three out of four individual income tax filers in the top 1% are, in fact, small businesses.
In the name of taxing the rich, Mr. Obama would raise the marginal tax rates to over 50% on millions of small businesses that provide 75% of all new jobs in America. Investors and corporations will also pay higher taxes under the Obama program, but, as the Michigan-Ohio-Illinois experience painfully demonstrates, workers ultimately pay for higher taxes in lower wages and fewer jobs.
Mr. Obama would spend all the savings from walking out of Iraq to expand the government. Mr. McCain would reserve all the savings from our success in Iraq to shrink the deficit, as part of a credible and internally consistent program to balance the budget by the end of his first term. Mr. Obama’s program offers no hope, or even a promise, of ever achieving a balanced budget.
Mr. Obama would stimulate the economy by increasing federal spending. Mr. McCain would stimulate the economy by cutting the corporate tax rate. Mr. Obama would expand unionism by denying workers the right to a secret ballot on the decision to form a union, and would dramatically increase the minimum wage. Mr. Obama would also expand the role of government in the economy, and stop reforms in areas like tort abuse.
Photos from McCain-Palin Rally
These are a few pictures from the McCain-Palin rally that took place in Colorado Springs, Colorado on Saturday, September 6, just two days after Governor Palin’s historic speech at the RNC accepting the nomination for Vice President.
We drove down to Colorado Springs and arrived at the airport at 8:30 am. The line to get in was probably half a mile long. When we heard there were no porta-potties, we regretted drinking those coffees during our hour long ride from Denver.
By 10:30 am we got close to the entrance and the security screeners. We bought a couple of buttons but passed on the $15 McCain/Palin hats. Damn, it was hot and I could have used a ball cap, but none of us had brought much cash with us. Obviously, we are a bunch of first time political rally novices.
The sun was blazing hot at 11 am and 10,000 people were standing around with no water waiting for Senator McCain and Governor Palin. The jazz band sucked. We couldn’t even see the podium or the stage from back in the middle of the crowd.
Now this was promising. After speeches by the Bob Schaffer, who is running for the Senate, they opened it up and let part of the crowd get inside (out of the sun!) and closer to the podium. It was 12:30 pm and we’d been standing and waiting for Sarah for 4 HOURS.
Some of the things Sarah said were repeated script from Wednesday night at the RNC but we didn’t care. We screamed and hollered for her anyway. She could have stood up there and read the phone book and we would have loved it.
Sarah Palin spoke for a few minutes and got a tremendous cheer. I saw homemade signs like “Thank you Alaska” and “Sarah, you had us at hello” and “Sarah Barracuda”. We had managed to get from about 100 feet from the stage up to about 15-20 feet away. Just like going to a rock concert! Good times. Good times.
I didn’t take this shot but found it on the internet. It shows the two McCain airplanes in the background and the podium in the foreground.
Governor Sarah Palin spoke first and seemed truly amazed at the size of the crowd on a Saturday, and the overwhelming enthusiasm. McCain got a real kick out of it too.
How cool is this? That’s John McCain, the future 44th President of the United States.
They passed out thousands of small American flags. This turned out to be the infamous ‘Flag controversy’: a worker at Invesco Field claims he found 12,000 of these beautiful close 12″x16″ flags in black plastic bags next to the trash after the Democratic Convention concluded with the Messiah’s speech the Thursday before. The crowd loudly boo’d when they heard the flag story and had a great time waving them at the rally.
McCain’s plane took off for Albuquerque at about 1:45 pm right after the Colorado Springs appearance.
Go McCain/Palin 08!
