A Conservative Nation, A Few (Large) Liberal Districts

August 2, 2010 · Posted in Democrats · Comments Off

“…in 2004 John Kerry won 80% or more of the vote in 19 congressional districts, while the number of congressional districts in which George W. Bush won 80% or more was zero. Similarly and even more starkly, in 2008 Barack Obama won 80% or more of the vote in 28 congressional districts, while the number of congressional districts in which John McCain won 80% or more was zero.”

In an article entitled “The Democrats have a Concentration Problem,” Michael Barone looks at the red map of the country, and holds the position that, while the democrats have managed to nab the white house thanks to some very heavily democrat congressional districts, the Republicans hold a structural advantage. Good reading.

It is a New Day in America

November 11, 2009 · Posted in Democrats, Left Wing Media · Comments Off

I’ve had a couple of democrat friends give me indications over the past month that they are fed up with the “crooks” in Washington, but each seems to have a different “last straw” or reason to rethink their support of ANYONE with a “D” at the end of their name.

It appears that the good folks at hillbuzz.org – who are dyed-in-the-wool long time Hillary Supporters and staunch democrats, are finally fed up with Obie and his white house goons, the leftist congress, and the state-run Pravda media. Hillbuzz writes:

The only party loyalty we have rests in the Clintons themselves, and their loyalists. In truth, that’s what’s kept us calling ourselves “Democrats” when in reality we are now “Clinton Moderates”, without a party of our own. We will vote against anyone who didn’t support the Clintons. We will happily vote Republican when a good, non-religious zealot is up against a corrupt, machine-candidate, Obot.

We have absolutely no respect for the Democrat Party after the way it’s behaved the last three years.

All of the above would have been UNTHINKABLE to us in 2007.  Never in our lives did we think we would vote Republican or call ourselves Indepedents, but that’s where things have certainly moved.

Change is coming… and it won’t be what Obama planned on.

They’re Out There

Sixty-nine million naive buffoons who voted for Barry Soetoro, aka Barack Obama, for POTUS. That’s 52-53% of Americans who bothered to vote, or somewhere around 66 million people, give or take a few million “special” ACORN followers who several times as well as the dead and the fictional.

Yet if you point to the error of their ways, the robotic clichémongers immediate spout off what talking points they have been told to use and can recall “… Last eight years … Bush … the mess he inherited …” while giving no thought to the fact that the dems controlled congress for the past two years when it began to spiral out of control.

WOT To Be Replaced With OCO or maybe, CAEWWTDUH

The Washington Post reported that the Obama White House will no longer use the term, the “war on terror,” but will instead use the euphemism “Overseas Contingency Operation.” Even better, Pentagon spokesman Geoff Morrell says the preferred term is “a campaign against extremists who wish to do us harm.”

“CAEWWTDUH.”

For White House Toadies, at least the DUH part is correct…

Critics Notice that Obie Has Been Voting ‘Present’

“Apparently being abandoned by an alcoholic philandering muslim father, and a radical leftist mother, then studying Frank Marshall Davis, Saul Alinsky, and Malcolm X, and ultimately gravitating towards folk like William Ayres, Bernadine Dohrn, Louis Farrakhan, Tony Rezko, and Jeremiah Wright, then becoming a community agitator, and an Illinois state legislator, who voted present over a hundred times, has serious consequences? Who knew..” – commenter Rocco from Virginia on Criticism Shows Obama Is Losing Focus.

Obama: Let’s Make Vets Pay for War Wound Care

March 12, 2009 · Posted in Barak Obama, Democrats, Obamanomics · Comments Off

Just think – this is the administration that wants to push national health care on all of us. You know – that “free” health care that will be funded by other taxpayers? And yet they don’t want to pay for government employees already on the government health care plan…

It seems that Retired General Eric Shinseki wants to save a few bucks at the Veterans Administration by making men and women injured during military service to PAY for their own care:

Veterans Affairs Secretary Eric Shinseki confirmed Tuesday that the Obama administration is considering a controversial plan to make wounded warriors pay for treatment of service-related injuries by purchasing private insurance.

Asked about the proposal, Shinseki said it was under consideration. “A final decision hasn’t been made yet,” he said.

No money for the troops but Obams will spend billions on abortions overseas and oh yes $900 million to Hamas terrorists rebuild Gaza.

The Other Side of that Palin Court Appointee Story

March 6, 2009 · Posted in Democrats, Sarah Palin · Comments Off

Gov. Sarah Palin‘ s recent appointment of Judge Morgan Christen to the Alaska Supreme Court, caused a dust-up.

Ms. Christen’s appointment had been opposed initially by the state’s social conservatives because Christen was [allegedly] a liberal who had served on the board of directors of Planned Parenthood. The Alaska Daily News headline was “Palin Bucks Pressure in Supreme Court Appointment.”

Progressives called Palin hypocritical for having Pro-Life (er, I guess they call it “Anti Pro-choice”) views and then appointing a Pro-Choice Lib to the Court.

Not so fast…

The truth is that the Alaska Judicial Council only forwarded TWO NAMES to the governor for consideration. Governor Palin selected the lesser of two evils, as the Independent Christen was a better choice than Democrat Eric Smith who has a history of environmental activism from the bench and could do serious harm to Alaska’s environmental and economic policies.

By law, the governor is not permitted any other choice. She must pick one of the two. “None of the above” is not allowed.

But now some folks have started the research and are questioning whether Christen ever worked for Planned Parenthood at all. Christen doesn’t mention working with Planned Parenthood in her bio, and PP doesn’t mention her either. The whole sordid event seems to be nothing more than a political smear started by a left-wing blogger.

Congress Gives Self an 11% Raise. How are You Doing?

March 5, 2009 · Posted in Democrats, Not Politics as Usual · Comments Off

Ahh, to be stuck in a dead-end job like Congress where lawmakers typically experience a 90% re-election rate and then have to put in a tough 3-day work week for which they work all of 6 or 7 months a year. Uh, when they show up. Not that they have to show up that often. But for all this hard work, the Pelosi-Reid House of Thieves just gave themselves a raise and now make $174,000 a year.

Oh, and they all needed a little spending money, so each gets an extra $93,000 in petty cash to spend this year. Have a nice day, tax suckers!

In one month, Obama Triples Debt he “inherited” from Bush

February 25, 2009 · Posted in Democrats, Not Politics as Usual, stimulus bill · Comments Off

“There is another responsibility we have to our children… to ensure that we do not pass on to them a debt they cannot pay. With the deficit we inherited, the cost of the crisis we face, and the long-term challenges we must meet, it has never been more important to ensure that as our economy recovers, we do what it takes to bring this deficit down.” – Obama, 24 Feb 2009

Let’s look at that Bush budget deficit: it $162 billion in FY2007 or slightly more than 1 percent of GDP. This was less than the growth of GDP, so the burden of debt was in decline. Then Democrats took over in January 2007 and have nearly tripled the deficit. Since then they have increased it by at least another factor of 3, for the highest ever deficit since WWII (about 10 percent of GDP).

More numbers? Here:

When the Democrats regained control of Congress on January 4, 2007, the national debt was $8.67 trillion.

In the two years Pelosi and the Democrats have been in charge, the national debt has grown to $10.70 trillion. That means $2.03 trillion has been added to the national debt for an increase of 23% increase in two years the Democrats have controlled Congress.

Add to that the $1.3 trillion in spending the Dems added just this week! But then, February isn’t over yet…
