Yes, Wee Ones. Sarah Palin is THAT Awesome.

Dick Morris was on Greta the other night and mentioned the (mostly) positive October 2008 article on Sarah Palin by Jane Mayer for The New Yorker. (Yes – The New Yorker!)

Mayer had mentioned a 2007 cruise to Alaska attended by Morris and other prominent conservative pundits. Naturally, Sarah was just being herself but it charmed the National Republic and Weekly Standard crowd enough that they were the ones who began talking up Palin as a potential VP pick.

Excerpts from the Alaska travelers included remarks by Victor David Hanson:

Hanson, the historian, recalled Palin in high heels in the Governor’s Mansion, “walking around this big Victorian house with rough Alaska floors, saying, ‘Hi, I’m Sarah.’ ” She was “striking,” he said. “She has that aura that Clinton, Reagan, and Jack Kennedy had—magnetism that comes through much more strongly when you’re in the same room.”

And NR publisher Jack Fowler said: “This lady is something special. She connects. She’s genuine. She doesn’t look like what you’d expect. My thought was, Too bad she’s way up there in Alaska, because she has potential, but to make things happen you have to know people.”

And (the married) Bill Kristol said on July 22, 2008, on Fox that Palin was “my heartthrob.” He declared, “I don’t know if I can make it through the next three months without her on the ticket.”

Good reading in case you missed it last October. Read the full article in the New Yorker.
