Sarah Palin Comic Book a Huge Success

Alaska Governor Sarah Palin is depicted in the new Female Force series by comic book publisher Bluewater Productions which announced last October of its intent to make a comic book heroine out of the lovely gov.

According to the company, advance orders have been so huge that the Palin issue has sold out and will now get a second printing.

Bluewater Productions puts out popular, non-satirical hero adventure comics. They have also issued a comic on Secretary of State Hillary Clinton (which is also close to selling out).

The Michelle Obama issue isn’t doing as well.

“We want to attract a new demographic, not just the 12-year-old but the 40-year-old who will recognize and respect a strong woman who has changed history, as the first woman to run for vice president as a Republican,” publisher Darren Davis says. “We hope the book will help bring her the respect she deserves.”

“Whether you like her or not, in the past few weeks, she’s proved that she can really take it. They make fun of her on Saturday Night Live, and then she shows up on SNL and gives it right back.”

“They make jokes about her expensive wardrobe, and she comes back in her second-hand outfit from the consignment store in Anchorage. She shows that she is someone who gets it. I don’t necessarily like her, but I respect her.”

Davis is thrilled by the early reception of the 32-page comic by Palin fans.

“Due to the overwhelming demand for both the Palin and Clinton issues of Female Force, we are thrilled to have to run an second printing,” he said. “Despite our plan to over-print these titles the demand greatly exceeded our projections.”

The street release for the comic book is set for March 11. The second printing of the comic will feature the same painted cover of Sarah Palin by Patricio Carbajal.
